Meet Our Founder
Roxana Balzac Ruiz
Managing Partner
Roxana acts as Managing Partner at Mogote, a boutique advisory firm that serves family enterprises. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, her life’s work is centered around catalyzing a regenerative economy - primarily by working with families that are committed to shaping the next 30 years of their climate impact and channeling resources to projects in the energy, food and waste sectors.
She brings forth experience of leading and managing strategic directives across a diverse set of organizations and industries, including in clean energy, organics management, legal, media, real estate, call centers, commercial printing and investments. In working with family businesses, she has a knack for recognizing misalignments that are blocking progress, and skillfully navigating the often difficult conversations that come with managing intergenerational transitions. She’s proven to be a trusted, dedicated resource with the ability to build long lasting systems that can propel a family’s legacy.
Roxana has led corporate strategy and investments for a fourth-generation family office that operates a diversified conglomerate of businesses, and sits on the board of a first-generation family run business that is pioneering a regenerative approach to organics management. She is also a partner at Regenera, which co-founded the first institutionally backed fund for rooftop solar in Mexico.
She began her career leading business development in Latin America for Cleary Gottlieb, a top international law firm where she reported to the partners in New York, São Paulo and Buenos Aires. She graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University and has continued her education in the field of regenerative economics through the Capital Institute as well as having obtained a certificate in circular economy from UC Berkeley Extension.
